Final post - Issues and trends

Happy Holidays everyone!

Three consequences about the international early learning field for my professional or personal growth
  • I had no idea how difficult it would be to find an international contact – I need to work on networking! (unintended)
  • Equity and equality in the field – and how far we have come since the 70’s – but also how much more we need to grow (intended and unintended)
  • Poverty – is an international issue and how are other countries ending poverty? How can I apply this international view to my classroom or local community?
  • Experiences all children should have in early childhood – DAP - goes with school readiness, environment and a level of quality – universal standards and rating system could be an unintended consequence of this.

One goal of mine would be to have universal standards for preschool.  I feel like this goal is attainable nationally and internationally with collaboration from professionals in the field.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and feedback this semester! We had a wonderful group!!

  1. Danielle,
I had a hard time finding an international contact as well! Just before I was about to switch over to the podcast option, a co-worker that I had spoken to about the class informed me that her nephew was teaching in Dubai. I need to network more, too! Your goal of having universal standards for all preschool students is great. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!!!

  2. Danielle thanks for your immeasurable ideas you shared with us during this course. The course was full with ideas and knowledge. Actually, it was through this course I realized how poverty has eaten up many children’s future in my community. I will ever appreciate this great opportunity of learning issues and tread in the early childhood field.

  3. I have found the best way of networking is by traveling. I would recommend traveling and staying with the locals. This is the best way to truly learn what the culture is like.

  4. Hi Danielle! How wonderful if we could have universal standards for preschool that were met by all. I ask myself constantly what does it take to have all involved in the care of our children to actually care. It is such a tough question to answer but I hope one day we will find the answer! Hope you have a wonderful break and hope to see you in January!

  5. Hi Danielle,
I also had a difficult time finding a contact. This means I have work to do. Finding international contacts and learning from other countries can be a major opportunity for growth in the early childhood field.
